Ohayo Super Hydration Review

I was lucky enough to win a crate of this product via a competition on http://www.mrhyde.com/!

The packaging is bright and simplistic and wouldn’t look out of place in the corner of a student’s room. I also really liked the fact that each bottle has a glow in the dark sticker on it to remind you to drink it when you stumble in. The sticker says “tomorrow says thank you” it’s a fun, quirky touch.

It’s full of vitamins, minerals, and electrolytes and was created to help rehydrate people in a small and concentrated boost. Ohayo’s website describes the drink as “a tiny but powerful, stinky but delightful, vitamin drink full of contradictions.”

I’m really hoping that this product is as good as the creators claim. I love going out but it always ends the same way; extreme hangovers –  the type that completely write the day off and leave me in bed with my head spinning, nausea and questioning everything I thought I ever knew. If I can enjoy the night before without the hangover the next morning, I’ll be on top of the world.

I tried the drink sober first to gauge my honest opinion of the drink and then I tried it again a couple of days later after a friend and I finished off a couple of bottles of rosé between us (yes that’s all it takes to induce a hideous hangover). Here’s what I found;

Smell – In short, it’s not a terribly appealing smell and it gave me flashbacks!

It vaguely reminded me of the way cheap cordial juice smells if it’s been left stagnant for a while but slightly saltier. Taking a whiff of this drink brought back memories of a friend forcing me to drink crushed up vitamin c tablets in a club bathroom in an attempt to sober me up, traumatic on all kinds of levels!

Taste – I’m not a fan of the taste either. It’s a bitter/salty mix which I didn’t find very pleasant. When sober I found that I was having to psych myself up to have another sip although when drunk it was no longer a problem for me, I downed the drink in three and a half sips and the taste didn’t bother me nearly as much.

Does it work? The creators know that it doesn’t smell or taste great, they say themselves on their website and they don’t hide the fact because they know it doesn’t matter… it works a treat!

So far I’ve only tried this once after drinking (a broken ankle’s prevented me from getting out much!) but I was thrilled the next morning when I’d usually be hungover but was pleasantly surprised by the fact I was feeling fresh as a daisy.

Ohayo will stop your hangover but it won’t stop flashbacks of your drunken antics so you could still find yourself curled up in bed questioning everything you thought you knew… at least the room won’t be spinning though!
